Port Fairy Today
Port Fairy is located 290 km west of Melbourne on the eastern headland of Portland Bay [ Google Map ]
Port Fairy Charm Port Fairy still retains its historic charm, and with its picturesque river and ocean beaches has become a popular holiday destination. Walking, boating and fishing, swimming and surfing, along with a wide range of accommodation options, add to the attraction of the many beautiful old buildings in this small town of less than 3000 people
Fishing Today Port Fairy still boasts one of Victoria's largest fishing fleets. The seas provide good catches of shark (it is a deep sea angler's delight), crayfish and abalone. Port Fairy was one of Victoria's earliest ports. The reason for this is that the beautiful and picturesque Moyne River affords one of the safest harbours along the Victorian coastline. Fresh Crayfish are available locally & generally most recreational fishers land a variety of fish.
